I've posted stories before concerning the National Workers' Compensation Defense Network (NWCDN) and the seminars they produce around the country. Next week I will be in Atlanta at their fall event, and thought it would be worth another mention here. This group does a terrific job at these seminars, and you just can't beat the price. NWCDN events are free to qualified employers and insurance professionals.

The NWCDN is a group of AV rated defense lawyers from across the country, that form the organization to serve as a resource network and information service for their clients. They currently have representation from approximately 44 states.

The fall seminar this year is October 6th, at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta. There is also a pre-conference Cocktail Party the evening of October 5th. The scheduled sessions appear to be, as they usually are, timely and relevant to today's workers' comp professional. They include a panel discussion entitled “Innovative Strategies for Workers' Compensation Claims”, a session on Low Back Pain, and one on Medicare Set Asides called “Medicare Set Asides – Federal Legislation? Washington Players and Prospects? Litigation? Rules? What's New? Responses, Questions, Alternatives and Strategies.”

Other sessions discuss issues related to resignations and releases as part of workers' compensation settlements, and reconciling workers' compensation claims with employment law concerns.

The session ends with the ever popular “Two Minute Drill – Comp at a Glance in Every State”. Learning about comp just shouldn't be that entertaining….

You can get the full agenda here, and may register for the event at the NWCDN website, http://www.nwcdn.com.

If you are going to be in the Atlanta area at all next week, this would be a day well spent.
