Our annual Best Blogs Contest is once again just around the corner, and I suppose I better start tidying up around here if I want to be part of it. Launched in 2016, the WorkersCompensation.com Best Blogs Contest is a program recognizing blogs that provide excellent information and entertainment for the industry.
I suppose I better start checking my tongue – or at least start using selpl cechk again.
We started the Best Blogs Contest on the recommendation of Safety National’s Mark Walls, after LexisNexis discontinued a similar program they had run for several years. He felt we were the logical organization to pick up that mantle and run with it. It has been a popular offering and has helped identify some lesser known yet highly talented authors who have something vital to contribute to the industry.
Winners of the 2018 year may be found here. 2016 and 2017 winners are still available as well.
The Best Blog Contest takes nominations from industry members, employers and injured workers. As in previous years, Best Blogs will be determined by a panel of independent judges, as well as a collection of mathematically supported criteria which includes posting frequency, age of the blog and more. This program is designed to highlight and celebrate the very best our industry has to offer.
Eligible blogs must primarily serve the workers’ compensation market and related interests, and may be nominated under one of the following categories:
- Legal
- Regional/State Specific
- Legislative/Judicial
- Entertainment
- MSA/Settlements
- Medical Management
- Carrier
- TPA
- Safety/Prevention
- National Issues
- Injured Worker
Those blogs designated as “Best Blogs” for the workers’ compensation industry will be listed on the WorkersCompensation.com website, as well as have the opportunity to display a token indicating the designation for their visitors.
We will start accepting blog nominations on April 1, 2019. Nominations will run for 8 weeks.
I would caution you to be on the lookout for bloggers who start pandering to their audience in an attempt to encourage the nomination of their blog. After all, none of those people love you like I do. Really. They take your exceptional intelligence for granted and are just using you to be nominated. You deserve better than that.
So, watch for the opening of nominations, and submit your favorite blogs for consideration. We know you’ll make the right choice. You’re the best, really. And I don’t say that to just anybody.
