A Note from Bob: Welcome to Kids’ Chance Awareness Week! This week, all across America, Kids’ Chance chapters and their supporters are engaged in activities that will raise awareness of this great cause. However, it is one thing to hear about Kids’ Chance; it is quite another to meet just a few of the people whose lives have been changed by this organization, its supporters and volunteers. Therefore, my blog this week will be dedicated to introducing you to just a few of the “Faces of Kids’ Chance,” so that you can see for yourself the importance of the work Kids’ Chance does. Each day I will introduce you to a couple of our kids who have been given the opportunity of education and have worked hard to better their lives despite the truly tragic incidents that brought them here.

Olivia N.
Olivia is a 21 year old with a goal of working in deep ocean research or with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in law enforcement. Olivia graduated Paxon High School in Jacksonville, and is enrolled as a Junior at Jacksonville University where she studies Marine Science and Psychology. Olivia has received a variety of scholarships based on her academic achievement including Bright Futures and the Jacksonville University Honors Scholarship. She works part time at the Marine Science Research Center on campus and helps to support herself as she works toward graduation.

Gabriel M.
Gabriel M. graduated Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, and currently studies biology at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. Throughout high school, he was in dual enrollment and therefore received his high school diploma and Associate of Arts degrees simultaneously. Gabriel aspires to be a physician, as does his sister who is currently enrolled in medical school. Gabriel is known as a humble, hard-working, and devoted young man. He has demonstrated dedication to his academic goals, his family, and his community.
