I’ve written previously about hosting the Sertoma Sarasota Celebrity Roast. It is an annual fundraiser I run for the benefit of children with speech and hearing issues. This year, for those of you on the Florida Gulf Coast, we will be roasting local legend Les McCurdy, of McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre. In addition. we will be doing it on Les’ 60th birthday, October 27th.
We’ve pulled out all the stops this year, and have lined up a panel of professional comedians to roast Les – and one that will be featured is LA based Bobby Collins.
Bobby is extremely funny, as the clip below from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon demonstrates. But we have other great comics lined up, like Tim Wilkins, Ken Sons and Valarie Storm. Les is a legend in the comedy field, and is even credited for creating “Larry the Cable Guy”, when a young and relatively unknown Daniel Whitney performed at his club.
If you are in the Sarasota area, I encourage you to attend – or better yet, sponsor a table! 100% of the profits go to fund a speech clinic for children who cannot afford traditional speech therapy, as well as hearing aids and other hearing related equipment for the hearing impaired community. We are having an open bar reception, dinner with wine service and a terrific line up of entertainment for the evening.
You can buy tickets online at www.SarasotaRoast.com. If you live in the Sarasota area, come hang with Bobby Collins and the whole Les McCurdy Roast comedy crew. I hope to see you at the Roast!
