Thank you, Helen. Like you, we have waited some time (but didn’t have to drive quite so far to get to another). When we moved here just over two years ago, the sign was up announcing its eventual arrival. It was supposed to open about 6 or 7 months ago, but supply issues hindered that. Great to hear from you!

Growing up in Tampa and Winter Haven (home of the original store) Publix was part of my life and I missed it so much when my husband and I moved to Maggie Valley, NC. Ingles is nice, but they do not have the butter cream frosting that Publix perfected. When we moved to Maggie Valley, the closest Publix was 40 miles away and we only shopped there for special occasions. Like my birthday. Their chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream frosting is a necessity. Then, one day I saw that Publix was opening a store in Waynesville, only about 12 minutes from home. I drove past the site longingly for two years – and finally, it opened! And we have shopped there happily ever after.
